The sinking of MV Sewol, also called the Sewol ferry disaster, occurred on 2014, when the ferry MV Sewol was the route from Incheon towards Jeju in South Korea. Out of 476 passengers and crew, 304 died in the disaster, including around 250 students from Danwon High School. Of the approximately 172 survivors, more than half were rescued by fishing boats and other commercial vessels that arrived at the scene approximately forty minutes before the Korea Coast Guard.

Ultimately, the project clarifies the important lessons we have missed from the Ferry Sewol incident, a national disaster experience, for example, the purpose of changing international maritime safety regulations to fulfill the social responsibility of creating a future society's safety and a sustainable world

• Fragments of the deep and dark time of the Sewol ferry’s sinking in 2014 are recorded in the form of a video of mobile messaging conversations.

• Video content

1. Conversations from the SMS between the victims and parents.

2. group chat messages of victims (Danwon High School. students)

3. Edit the last mobile phone videos left by the victims 'students' into conversations.

4. Transcripts of Cheonghaejin Marine Company employees and other people concerned.

5. Adapt the situation of crew members in the engine room at the time of the Sewol ferry accident into a messaging app conversation. (Refer to the investigation report of the Sewol ferry disaster, and the court statements of the people concerned)

6. Sewol Ferry Engine Room and Jindo VTS/ Mokpo Coast Guard Headquarters/ Korea Coast Guard Rescue Team correspondence transcript.

7. Adapt the rescue log of private rescuers into a conversation in a mobile messaging app.

8. Adapt the rescue operation process of Korea Coast Guard‘s Patrol Vessel 123 and helicopter into dialogues.

• I plan to record the above content in the form of video of mobile messaging conversations, and then present them to the audience through multiple mobile phones.

• Looking into the 2014 Sewol Ferry disaster, all human emotions are entangled in a dark abyss. This project records different positions on the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014 in the form of individual conversations.

• Recording subtle movements of multiple small branches, the dark forest of the Sewol ferry disaster could be revealed.
